In the single-match final format, this will be the first one held in Argentina, as previous finals were hosted in the following cities: Peru (2019), Rio de Janeiro (2020), Montevideo (2021), Guayaquil (2022), and Rio de Janeiro (2023).
Regarding the clashes between Brazilian teams in the CONMEBOL Libertadores, this will be the sixth edition where teams from the South American giant face each other.
Palmeiras was crowned against Santos after the 2021 final, thus obtaining their second CONMEBOL Libertadores. The match ended 1-0, with Lopes scoring the decisive goal that secured the title.
Just a year later, in the 2021 edition, Palmeiras once again won the top prize, this time against Flamengo. The match concluded 2-1, and although the city of Montevideo did not leave good memories for Mengao, they had their revenge in the following edition.
In the 2022 final, held at the Estadio Monumental in Guayaquil, Dorival's team defeated Athletico Paranaense 1-0. Gabriel Barbosa scored the only goal, giving Flamengo their third victory in the continent's top club competition.
