Hansel Vaz

Hansel is widely acknowldged as a true champion of Goa's heritage spirit, Feni all around the world and is also considered as a Feni ' Polymath' by learning.

 

After 9 years of working as a geologist studying rocks around the world, Hansel Vaz decided that Feni on the rocks was a much better option. Taking over a family business, Feni as a category had to be rethought, reworked and restructured if it really has to compete as a spirit. Audaciously launching the brand Cazulo Premium Feni with, at present, three traditional expressions of Cashew, Coconut and Dukhshiri, Cazulo is now the most premium portfolio of Feni available in Goa. Strongly evangelising the Feni, Cazulo has achieved substantial traction in the cocktail scene, in tastings and now more recently as a Tourism option of culinary and beverage experiences.

 

Hansel is the secretary of Goa Feni Distillers and Bottlers Association ( GCFDBA ) and was intrumental in drafting the GI Policy for Cashew Feni in Goa. He is also credited with creating the world's first feni cellar, dedicated to give feni its rightful place under the sun. It includes his personal collection of garrafaoes ( glass bottles used to store feni ) from all over Goa serving as a star attraction. The oldest of them is as old as 300 years old.
