Gastronomos Magazine, the No 1 culinary magazine in Greece, was first published in the early months of 2006 by a group of journalists who recognized the definitive role of quality raw materials in cooking, believed in the value of the Mediterranean diet and were passionately researching the role that Greek cuisine plays in different rural traditions of cooking.
The first issue was released in April of the same year as an insert in the Sunday edition of Kathimerini, the top Greek newspaper in terms of circulation. Every month, along with its culinary suggestions and the dozens of reliable recipes for everyday meals and festive occasions, Gastronomos also showcases products and producers that stand out. Every day across Greece, the magazine's specialized collaborators are seeking out passionate creators of fine food. In June of every year, after the grueling testing is complete, the top ten are presented with quality awards.
