It's late summer: The air keeps heating up, as do the baseball pennant races. So we head on out to the ballpark, but what is there to eat? Pretty much anything you want. We've come a long way from the days of hot dogs and Cracker Jacks - today, almost every ballpark has a specialty food. Here are some of the country's most revered baseball stadium culinary treats.

We've come a long way from the days of hot dogs and Cracker Jack.
PETCO Park
San Diego, CA
The San Diego Padres moved to their gorgeous new stadium, PETCO Park, in 2004, and it's a doozy. Huge yet homey, out behind centerfield, Petco has a small park with a playing field for the kids, a hill for picnicking (bring your own blanket), and several concession stands. Their best offering? The fish taco, a San Diego specialty. Get them "los especiales" (aka, with guacamole).
Safeco Field
Seattle, WA
The Seattle Mariners play at beautiful Safeco Field, a brand-new stadium with a retractable roof for the rainy nights. Almost more exciting than the fancy roof is their revered right fielder Ichiro Suzuki. Suzuki has a huge Japanese following, so it's no surprise that Safeco Field's spicy tuna "Ichiroll" is extremely popular. If sushi's not your thing, there's also clam chowder, salmon sandwiches, and aromatic garlic fries.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards
Baltimore, MD
When the Orioles' harborside Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened in Babe Ruth's hometown of Baltimore in 1992, it ushered in a new age of stadium building. With its ivy-covered fences, brick exterior, and the refurbished historic warehouse just behind the right-field fence, the stadium is a wonderful combination of modern amenities and old-time charm. Adding to that charm are some of the best crab cakes Maryland has to offer, as well as fare from the fantastic Boog's Barbecue. Run by John "Boog" Powell, the immensely popular former Orioles' slugger, Boog's Barbecue, which is right outside the park, offers rich meats dressed in all kinds of sauces. Often Boog himself is out there, so you can get your ribs autographed.
Turner Field
Atlanta, GA
The Atlanta Braves, owned by television mogul and buffalo rancher Ted Turner, play in Turner Field just outside of Atlanta. And though hot dogs are no longer the first choice of most fans, it should be noted that Turner Field has a whopping 20 varieties. The coolest? Probably the bison dog, made with meat that comes straight from Turner's own herd.
